neat pillow

I love this textured pillow from Presser Foot. I am thinking I may try this one out and submit it to the VA State Fair home goods competition this year. I think they could use some modern entries.

For the Dads - 2010

I wanted to do something nice for TJ that would reflect to him what a wonderful Father he is. What better way than show him how wonderful his son is. Mushy gushy I know. In addition to giving this collection of photos to TJ, I wanted to have it neutral enough to send a copy to my father and TJ's father. So thus the "Adventures of a little boy." was created. Enjoy this little glimpse into Cody's world.

comments = love

We just aren't feeling the love. ;) We would love to hear more from you if you are reading the blog. Your comments don't have to be gushy, just let us know you stopped by. I'd love it to be a two way conversation. We are going to make the blog private soon and it will require a pass code to view. Which will be the same as the ucciardisliketoparty.shutterfly.com password. So just e-mail TJ or I to get it.

We love you all!

Cody 15-months

What a mover and shaker. He is a busy boy but does take the time to let us read to him.
Fav books right now:
Goodnight Ocean
Big Red Barn
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
The Foot Book
Goodnight Moon
There is Monster at the End of this Book
Peter Rabbit
We pretty much know them by heart. He knows when they are close to the end because he starts reaching for another book. It is nice that he will sit in our laps and look at them.

We had out 15 month check-up and he is a healthy growing boy.
Cody 15-month stats:
weight: 26 lbs 2 oz., 75-90%
height: 32.5 inches, 90%
head circ: 47.5 inches, 50-75%
Understanding simple commands. Brings us stuff when asked. Started "running" in the past month. I can hear him in the morning ... thump-thump-thump-thump. Loves the Swiffer (which I shorted to "Cody height" so he can help mommy) and playing in the sink with foamy soap bubbles and dishes. Knows to push/use the stool to get up to counter height. Needs help getting up and monitoring but is so cool to see him understand what it is for. Is getting better at flipping the light switch on and off. Loves to explore outside and follow the dogs around. What adventures the three will have. He started to blow kisses and is a little shy when introduced to new people and places. Once he warms up he is a little charmer.
Fav foods:
goldfish
any fruit
cheese (mommy too!)
milk
Great-Grandma U's lasagna
Daddy's pancakes with REAL maple syrup
green beans
Basically a good eater.

Sunday with the Ucciardi's

Great Grandma her beau Paul, Grandpa, Uncle Brian, Auntie Trish, Cousins Sean and Seth all came by for an afternoon bbq and hang time. There was dirt, golf, pork, country style green beans and so many other little adventures. It was really presious to spend time with all the namesake Ucciardi's. The weather held out but the nats are really busy this year. I told everyone that if you hold your hand up they won't buzz around your face. AHAHAHA. Funny to llok at but it actually works.

Brian and the boys are sharing the garden boxes TJ built to grow tomatoes and peppers, I hope to plant my tomatoes, cucs, and squash soon.

art journaling and spilled milk

You would think I have been doing this all along but with life getting busy being pregnant and now chasing a toddler around I haven't thought about taking the time to start journaling again. I wish I had during my pregnancy I am sure it would have been insightful to the ebbs and flows of baking a baby. Better late than never. An art teacher has provided a jumpstart by offering an after school time to art journal with other stressed souls who need a creative outlet. This is such a blessing. She has all the creative pieces and parts to get us started. "Stress Free" is our motto and by only having to bring our journals to class most certainly lives up to it. I am one of the few who has experience working art journals and am not as intimidated to launch into my pages but others are a little reserved and somewhat overwhelmed. I think a few pages and they will be right at home. I can't wait for down the lane when they can go back and see how far they have come. Although she has provided us prompts I am starting with a FONT and am really into right now. I think it was free one I downloaded who knows when. Spill milk is the name and I adore it at 150% stretched. Any good typographer knows that default setting are not always the best so tweak, tweak, tweak them. Here is a sample of what I printed so I can cut it up and glue into place. I plan to use these sessions to get messy with paint, gesso, crayons, glitter, glue, scissors, what ever else I get my hands on. It will be such a nice change to the typical daily computer driven churning of designed ads and promotional materials. This is for me and for me to share as I see fit.

Spring Break

Here are a few pictures of Cody in Virginia Beach visiting is Grandfather. We had an awesome time and hated to leave but I have to go back to work on Monday so we can take more trips in the Summer.

17th Street Pier in the background

Cody ate his weight in strawberries everyday at Grandpa's house. Grandpa cooked breakfast and dinner for us and it ranged from salmon, eggs, pancakes, sausage, chicken, green beans, and much more

Hunter lives just down the lane. He turns one this week and his parents are having a big ole party for him! Cody and him are going to be great friends. They are already interested in each other and soon they will be running a path between houses.

=Layer Cake=

So my birthday sharing sister and her oldest son came to town via St. Patty's Day Soccer tournament in Fredericksburg last weekend. Which J's team won all of their games. Victory! Hard fought sometimes but made for an exciting sideline as they were awesome to watch. They came and stayed the night. I made cook-to-order dinners for Cody and J. Refried bean and cheese quesadillas and corn. I prepared Chicken Rama with broccoli and jasmine rice. A peanut coconut creamy chicken Thai dish. One of my favorites. First time preparing and she was kind enough to be my guinea pig. It was awesome! I like it a little more spicy hot wise but since it was my first preparation I kept it cool. My sis brought a delicious bottle of wine for us to share. Layer Cake Primitivo aka Zinfandel from
Puglia, Italy. How fitting that our birthday is coming up and we drank cake! It paired well with the Chix Rama dish cutting the creaminess of the sauce but not interfering with the flavors. As the description mentions, "Relax on a hot summer evening, the fountain in the background, church-bells in the distance." We did that indeed. Well .. replace Summer with Spring evening at the new picnic table (Thanks Vinnie), fountain with a breeze, and church bells with Cody banging on the tray. I need to start a wine list on my iPod to keep track of what I like so I can pick them up when I am out and about. Thanks Sis for introducing me to this series of wines. I think I will try the Malbec next.

“My old grandfather told me the soils in which the vines lived were a layer cake. If properly made, the wine from these vines was like a delicious cake layered with fruit, mocha and chocolate, with hints of spice and rich, always rich. Never pass up a good Layer Cake.” ⎯ A. Orlando Tribute, Jayson Woodbridge

Happy Birthday Sis! Here's to another wonderful year of fun and crazy memories!
