Big Bird opted to go black tie for the event, where "Sesame Street" received the lifetime achievement award -- and a standing ovation -- for 40 years of educating and entertaining children.

Squash it

Last Sunday we introduced squash to Cody and his reaction was more indifferent than anything. He seem not quite sure about it. TJ fed him some more at lunch yesterday and he liked it a little more. I think we'll warm it up next time it might mellow out a little more.

Cody's first solid food

mmmmmmm
Organic Rice Cereal. We wanted to wait until we got back from Camp Barefoot 3 to introduce solid foods. He is 6 months old and we can't believe how fast he is growing. He weighed 16lbs 10oz and is 27 inches long. He just had his check up yesterday and got some more shots. He is starting to rock up on his knees and elbows. So we are going to start baby proofing the house. I am trying to post a little video but I keep getting errors.

Coming soon ... squash.

for the love of Ducky

Cody just loves rubber duckies. We sing him a ducky song that settles him when nothing else will. He snuggles and chews on a little stuffed ducky. Tub-time is never without a true rubber ducky that he kicks and splashes around with.

I can across these photos from a blog, and the artist is Florentijn Hofman. He created this grand ducky for ‘Loire Estuary 2007, an outdoor contemporary art exhibition taking place in France.

OMG Cody wouldn't know what to do!

Blakberi cocktails

I have the fresh herbs for these drinks so I think I am going to try one of them out at tomorrow's yard tiki party. I have infused some vodka with blackberries from my garden.

B & B (Blakberi & Basil)

This cocktail recipe gives new meaning to a “B&B.” It’s delicious for individual cocktails and a great option for warm-weather pitcher drinks.

Ingredients Per Cocktail
* 1 part Stoli Blakberi
* French or Italian sparkling lemonade (in bottles at specialty food stores) or San Pellegrino Sparkling Lemon Beverage (in cans)
* Fresh basil to taste

Preparation
1. Muddle basil with Stoli Blakberi.
2. Serve on rocks and top off with Italian sparkling lemonade. Garnish with additional basil leaves.

Blakberi Blues

Ingredients Per Cocktail
* 2 parts Stoli Blakberi
* 1 part Stoli Blueberi
* 1 part cranberry juice
* 1 part simple syrup
* Splash of raspberry liqueur
* Squeeze of lemon
* Fresh sage to taste and to garnish

Preparation
1. Muddle sage. Combine with ingredients, shake vigorously over ice and strain into a cocktail glass.
2. Garnish with one blueberry, one blackberry and sage.

summer in a jar

I picked my first batch of blackberries this morning. Cody sat in his stroller watching my poke through the vines. Many of the flowers did not bear fruit this year. I had plenty to make two double batches of jam.

The Caroline County Fair is next weekend. I plan to submit my blackberry jam. Last year I won a blue ribbon and special award because the judges really enjoyed it.

Wish me luck!

5 months

Cody is 5 months today! He has his two bottom teeth coming in and is chewing on everything in sight.

TJ and I have no major plans for this weekend which is a nice break. The neighbors are throwing a tiki party out in the field this Saturday. That should be fun.
